Jon Doyle
Jon Doyle studies how reasoning programs can track assumptions, revise beliefs, and explain their actions. Doyle’s 1979 paper describes a subsystem that records reasons for a program’s beliefs. It supports revising assumptions when new discoveries conflict with them and uses recorded dependencies to help explain actions. Doyle received an MIT doctorate in artificial intelligence in 1980. He received an MIT master’s degree in 1977 and a mathematics bachelor’s degree from Houston in 1974.
