Guodong Guo
Also known as Guo-Dong Guo, 郭国栋
Guodong Guo is a computer vision researcher at the Ningbo Institute of Digital Twin at the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, whose work spans face recognition, facial age estimation, biometrics and multimodal large language models. He earned a BE in automation from Tsinghua University in 1991 and a computer science PhD under Charles Dyer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2006. At West Virginia University, he founded and directed the Computer Vision Laboratory, received the university's Outstanding Researcher Award, and co-edited the 2017 book Mobile Biometrics with Harry Wechsler. By 2019, he joined the Institute of Deep Learning at Baidu Research, coauthoring the CASIA-SURF face anti-spoofing benchmark, a 2019 survey on deep face recognition, and the 2021 TransFER expression-recognition model. After moving to the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, in 2024, he coauthored Fusion-Mamba for cross-modality object detection in 2025 and the REF-VLM visual decoding framework in January 2026.
