Negin Golrezaei
Also known as Nikki Golrezaei
Negin Golrezaei is an operations researcher whose AI work applies machine learning, market design, and optimization to online platforms. She earned electrical engineering degrees at Sharif and an operations research PhD at USC, then completed a Google Research postdoctoral year before holding an assistant professorship at MIT Sloan by August 2018. Her work spans real-time assortment optimization, auction pricing under strategic bidding, fairness in online optimization, and market design for generative AI. Google and the Office of Naval Research recognized her work with research awards; her papers won a Distinguished Paper Award at IJCAI in 2024 and the Best Operations Management Paper in Operations Research Award in 2025. As of October 2026, she is the Theresa Seley Associate Professor in Management Science and Associate Professor of Operations Management at MIT Sloan, holds editor roles at Naval Research Logistics and two research journals, and is Founder and President of AgentGora; she also serves on AgoraX's advisory board.

Timeline
-
2007–2009
Electrical engineering at Sharif
She earns a BSc in electrical engineering in 2007 and an MSc in 2009 at Sharif University of Technology in Iran.
-
2014–2017
Assortment paper and USC PhD
In 2014, she coauthors “Real-time Optimization of Personalized Assortments,” a Management Science paper. She completes a PhD in Operations Research at USC in 2017 and receives the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award. At USC Marshall, she works in the Data Sciences and Operations department under faculty advisor Hamid Nazerzadeh.
-
2018
Google Research and an MIT role
In March 2018, she wins the Google Faculty Research Award in Algorithms and Optimization for a project titled “Pricing and Bidding in Supply Chain of Auctions.” After a postdoctoral year at Google Research in New York with the Market Algorithms team, she is expected to join MIT Sloan as a tenure-track assistant professor in 2018; by August 2018, she holds the title of Assistant Professor of Operations Management.
-
February 2020
Robust pricing in contextual auctions
In February 2020, she coauthors “Dynamic Incentive-aware Learning: Robust Pricing in Contextual Auctions” with Adel Javanmard and Vahab Mirrokni. The paper proposes Contextual Robust Pricing, a policy for learning reserve prices in repeated contextual second-price auctions while accounting for strategic buyers.
-
2021
An ONR Young Investigator Award
In 2021, she receives the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Program award for a project titled “Finding a Needle in a Haystack: Utilizing Structures and Predictive Information in Online Optimization.” The project develops fast-learning methods for uncertain, time-varying combinatorial settings.
-
2024
Fairness in online optimization
In 2024, she coauthors “Online Combinatorial Optimization with Group Fairness Constraints” with Rad Niazadeh, Kumar Kshitij Patel, and Fransisca Susan. The paper proposes a robust framework for adding group-fairness constraints to online combinatorial optimization, including product rankings, and wins a Distinguished Paper Award at IJCAI 2024.
-
2025
Product rankings with fake users
In 2025, “Learning Product Rankings Robust to Fake Users,” coauthored with Vahideh Manshadi, Jon Schneider, and Shreyas Sekar, wins the Best Operations Management Paper in Operations Research Award from the INFORMS Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society. The paper studies how fake users such as click farms can manipulate product rankings on digital platforms.
-
2026
Market design for generative AI
In 2026, she coauthors the working paper “Market Design for Generative AI: Beyond the Copyright Binary,” accepted for presentation at the M&SOM Service Operations SIG.
