Edo Liberty

Edo Liberty is the founder and chief scientist of Pinecone, a vector database company that provides long-term memory for AI. Before founding Pinecone, he worked as a research director at AWS and Yahoo, and he headed Amazon AI Labs until April 2019. His research includes Simple and Deterministic Matrix Sketching, which he posted to arXiv in June 2012. Pinecone raised a $10 million seed round in January 2021, a $28M Series A in March 2022 and a $100M Series B in April 2023. In September 2025, Ash Ashutosh became Pinecone's CEO, and Liberty moved into the chief scientist role.
