Pradeep Singh

Pradeep Singh is a mathematician whose AI research draws on dynamical systems, geometry and machine learning. He ranked first in IIT JAM, CSIR-NET and GATE, earned a PhD in symbolic systems at IIT Delhi, and studied hyperbolic billiards with Anima Nagar. At IIT Roorkee, he pursued geometric deep learning and work on equivariant learning. He coauthored books on transformer mathematics, AI and machine learning, including a 2026 book on machine-learning foundations; he is an assistant professor and Associate Dean (R&D) at IIIT Surat, where he leads DeepDynamics Lab.

Timeline

  1. 2015–2020

    Exam ranks and hyperbolic billiards

He ranks first in IIT JAM in 2015, CSIR-NET in 2019 and GATE in 2020. His 2020 paper with Anima Nagar studies geodesic billiard trajectories on the hyperbolic plane and shows that the dynamics form subshifts of finite type or their dense subsets.

  2. 2022

    A doctorate in symbolic systems

He earns a PhD in Symbolic Systems at IIT Delhi in 2022, along with a master’s degree there; he also holds a bachelor’s degree in data science from IIT Madras.

  3. October 2022–March 2024

    Postdoctoral work at IIT Roorkee

At IIT Roorkee’s Machine Vision & Intelligence Labs, he holds an NBHM postdoctoral fellowship in geometric deep learning from October 2022 to March 2024.

  4. December 2023

    Bratteli models for billiards

In December 2023, he and Anima Nagar publish online Bratteli–Vershikisability of Polygonal Billiards on the Hyperbolic Plane. The paper describes Bratteli models and shows that the billiard dynamics can be represented by Vershik maps.

  5. April 2024–February 2026

    Towards Elastic Equivariance

From April 2024 to February 2026, his postdoctoral research focuses on “Towards Elastic Equivariance: Equivariant Learning in Elastically Transformed Spaces.” A SERB National Post Doctoral Fellowship supports his research.

  6. 2025

    Transformer and AI textbooks

He and Balasubramanian Raman publish The Geometry of Intelligence: Foundations of Transformer Networks in Deep Learning in 2025, a mathematical account of transformer networks. In July 2025, he and Raman coauthor Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with Tapan K Gandhi, a textbook on AI and machine-learning fundamentals.

  7. 2026

    Machine-learning foundations book

In 2026, he and Balasubramanian Raman publish Foundations of Machine Learning and AI: Geometry, Probability and Optimization, a book that connects linear algebra, probability and statistical learning.

  8. As of October 2026

    Assistant professor at IIIT Surat

As of October 2026, he is Assistant Professor (Grade-I) in IIIT Surat’s Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences and Associate Dean (R&D). He leads DeepDynamics Lab, where research includes geometry-inspired machine learning, dynamical systems, reservoir computing, structured memory and agentic systems.
