Henri Prade
Also known as Henri M. Prade
Henri Prade is a computer scientist in Toulouse whose books on fuzzy sets, possibility theory and analogical reasoning address how machines reason with uncertain information. In 1975 he graduated as a civil engineer from ISAE-Supaéro, and in 1982 he earned a Doctorat d'Etat at Paul Sabatier University. With Didier Dubois, he wrote Fuzzy Sets and Systems: Theory and Applications in 1980 and Possibility Theory in 1988. He served as program chair of the 13th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Brighton in 1998, and in 2014 he co-edited Computational Approaches to Analogical Reasoning with Gilles Richard. Since 2019 he has been emeritus, and in 2025 the LFA meeting marked 40 years of possibility theory research led by Didier Dubois and Henri Prade.
