Mario Vento
Professor Mario Vento is an artificial-intelligence researcher whose work spans neural classification, graph matching, pattern recognition and computer vision. He earned a degree with honors in electronic engineering and a PhD in computer engineering at the University of Napoli Federico II in 1989, then began academic work as an assistant professor in 1990. At the University of Salerno, he became director of the MIVIA Lab in 2003 and director of the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Applied Maths in 2011, chaired IAPR's graph-representation committee from 2002 to 2006, and became an IAPR Fellow in 2004. He coauthored a chapter on graph methods for computer vision in 2013 and a 2014 review of graph matching and learning in pattern recognition, and guest-edited a special issue. As of October 2026, he is a full professor at the University of Salerno and teaches artificial-intelligence methods and artificial vision.
