Dan Boneh

Also known as דן בונה

Dan Boneh is a Stanford cryptographer whose security research reaches into adversarial training and AI coding assistants. He earned a PhD at Princeton in 1996 and joined the Stanford faculty in 1997. A 2013 Gödel Prize and a 2014 ACM Prize in Computing recognized his cryptography work. The National Academy of Engineering elected him in 2016. As of October 2026, he is the Rajeev Motwani Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford.

Timeline

  1. 1996

    A Princeton doctorate

At Princeton in 1996, he earns a PhD in computer science under Richard J. Lipton.
