Aniruddh Rao
Aniruddh Rao's published AI work spans image recognition, language generation and efficient neural-network training. In 2019, he worked on an image-recognition project that used Google AutoML Vision to study misclassification. In 2022, he coauthored Monarch, a structured-matrix approach to efficient neural-network training; the paper reached ICML as a long talk and received an Outstanding Paper runner-up distinction. At the University of Michigan, he and Manav Bhatia also worked on an abstractive title-generation project.
Timeline
-
2019
An image recognition project
In 2019, he works with Aaron Wilson and Ling Chen on a CSE 331 project that uses Google AutoML Vision to study image misclassification.
-
April 2022
Monarch structured matrices
In April 2022, he coauthors Monarch, which proposes hardware-efficient structured matrices to replace dense neural-network weights during training and fine-tuning.
-
July 2022
An ICML long talk
The Monarch paper appears as a peer-reviewed ICML conference article and a long talk in July 2022.
-
2022
An ICML runner-up award
Monarch receives the Outstanding Paper Runner Up distinction at ICML in 2022.
-
2022
Abstractive title generation
In Fall 2022, he and Manav Bhatia work on Got Headlines?, a project on abstractive title generation for news articles in Michigan's EECS 595 course.
