Pierre Sermanet
Pierre Sermanet works in computer vision and robotics, from convolutional networks to self-supervised learning from video. He completed a PhD with Yann LeCun at New York University, and in 2013 his OverFeat framework won the localization task of the ImageNet challenge. In May 2017 he gave a seminar as a Google Brain researcher, and he co-authored Time-Contrastive Networks. The 2025 Longuet-Higgins Prize went to Going Deeper with Convolutions, a CVPR 2015 paper he co-authored. UMA came out of stealth in December 2025, and he is its chief science officer.
