Dov Dori
Also known as דב דורי
Dov Dori is a Technion academic whose work spans document analysis and Object-Process Methodology (OPM). The International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a fellow in 2000, and in 2001 he and Wenyin Liu published a book on 2D engineering drawings recognition. In 1995 he and Alfred Bruckstein published Shape, Structure and Pattern Recognition, and Springer published his OPM book in 2002. The IEEE made him a Fellow in 2017 for contributions to model-based systems engineering and document analysis recognition, and INCOSE gave him its Pioneer Award in 2023. As of October 2026, he is a lecturer in MIT's System Design and Management program.

Kansas and a Weizmann doctorate
He starts his academic career as an assistant professor of computer science at the University of Kansas in 1987. He completes his PhD at the Weizmann Institute in 1988 under Amir Pnueli and Shimon Ullman.

Rising to Technion professor
The Technion appoints him senior lecturer in 1991, associate professor in 1999, and professor in 2008.

1995–2002
Books on pattern recognition and OPM
He and Alfred Bruckstein publish Shape, Structure and Pattern Recognition in 1995. Springer publishes his book Object-Process Methodology – A Holistic Systems Paradigm in 2002.

An IAPR fellowship
The International Association for Pattern Recognition names him a fellow in 2000. In 2001 he and Wenyin Liu publish Algorithms for 2D Engineering Drawings Recognition.

Visiting and lecturing at MIT
Between 2000 and 2020 he holds intermittent visiting posts at MIT. In 2014 MIT's webinar series names him a visiting professor in the Engineering Systems Division. In 2015 it lists him as a lecturer in that division.

2017–2021
IEEE and AAIA fellowships
He becomes an IEEE Fellow in 2017 for contributions to model-based systems engineering and document analysis recognition. In 2021 he becomes a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association.

2023–2025
INCOSE and ER Fellow honors
INCOSE gives him its Pioneer Award in 2023 for transitioning research to practice. The ER Fellows Award, given to selected members of the conceptual-modeling community, names him a 2025 fellow.
