About

People of Superintelligence is a directory of 1,837 people who work on artificial intelligence. It covers researchers, builders, lab leaders and public voices. Each person has a page with a short biography, a dated timeline and the public sources behind it.

The name

The word superintelligence in our name refers to two things. It names the machine intelligence that many of these people study and build. It also names the people themselves, whose work together made modern AI what it is.

How we write the biographies

We write each biography from public sources, such as university and company pages, personal websites, award lists and other public records.

Each profile ends with a numbered list of its sources. Each source shows the date we last checked it. The 1,837 biographies cite 8,783 sources in total.

When the sources do not state a fact, it stays unknown. We leave it out of the page and do not guess.

Organizations and careers

The organization pages and the blog use career records for each person. These records come from the biographies on this site and from OpenAlex, an open index of research publications and their authors.

Some blog posts use birth years and countries of birth from Wikidata, checked against Wikipedia, for people we could match to a Wikidata item with evidence beyond the name. We keep the year of birth only, never the full date.

Works, citations and h-index come from OpenAlex. When an OpenAlex record may be incomplete or mix in other authors, we hide its citations and h-index.

Photos

We use free-licensed photos first, such as photos under a Creative Commons license or in the public domain. When we cannot find one, we use a photo from the person's own website or from the page of their university, lab or company.

Every profile page names the photo's source and credit, and its license when the source states one. We crop each photo to a square and resize it.

If you are the person in a photo, or you hold its rights, you can ask us to remove it or to replace it with a photo you choose. We remove photos on request.
