Also known as Bangalore S Manjunath, B S Manjunath, B. Manjunath, B. S. MANJUNATH, B.S Manjunath

Bangalore S Manjunath is a computer vision researcher whose work spans image retrieval, multimedia standards, and scientific imaging. He earned degrees in electronics at Bangalore University in 1985, systems science and automation at the Indian Institute of Science in 1987, and electrical engineering at USC in 1991. In 1995, he described Gabor-filter search for UCSB's Alexandria Digital Library, co-edited a book on MPEG-7, and presented the BisQue platform for scientific images in 2014. He became an ACM Fellow in 2018, received the 2020 IEEE Computer Society McCluskey Technical Achievement Award, and entered AIMBE's College of Fellows in 2023. In 2025, he led an NSF project that brought AI and large language models to BisQue and received UCSB's graduate mentor award; since 2026, he is the first Frank Koenig Distinguished Chair in Signals and Systems and a Distinguished Professor at UCSB.
