Atulya K Nagar
Atulya K Nagar is a mathematician and AI researcher whose work spans optimization, machine learning, fuzzy systems, computer vision, and cybersecurity. He earned mathematics degrees in India, received a Commonwealth Fellowship in 1993, and completed a doctorate in applied nonlinear mathematics at York in 1996. At Liverpool Hope, he became a professor, helped establish its School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering, founded the Faculty of Science, and became Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research in 2019. His research includes a cyberattack dataset, a book on the sine cosine algorithm, a dataset for drone and bird detection, and a brain-connectivity classifier. As of October 2026, he is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) at Liverpool Hope University.
