Christos Faloutsos

Also known as Χρήστος Φαλούτσος

As of October 2026, Christos Faloutsos is the Fredkin Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned an electrical engineering degree in Athens in 1981 and a computer science PhD at the University of Toronto in 1987. His work on graph and multimedia mining, fractals and power laws earned the ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award in 2010. He joined Amazon as an Amazon Scholar in 2017, and in 2020 he received the Fredkin Professorship in Artificial Intelligence. In 2021 researchers at Carnegie Mellon and McGill adapted an algorithm to identify similarities across escort ads.
