Lubomir Bourdev
Also known as Lubomir D. Bourdev
Lubomir Bourdev is a computer vision researcher whose work spans object detection and AI video compression. In 2005 Robust object detection via soft cascade appeared at CVPR, a paper that Bourdev co-wrote with Jonathan Brandt. A 2011 Ph.D. dissertation at UC Berkeley, held by Bourdev, carried the title Poselets and Their Applications to High-Level Vision. Before founding WaveOne with Oren Rippel in 2016, Bourdev was a founding member of Facebook AI Research, and Apple acquired WaveOne in 2023. As of October 2026, they are CEO of Primepoint, a San Mateo company that started in 2024.
