Ulrike Sattler
Also known as Uli Sattler
Ulrike Sattler is a computer scientist who studies description logics as the logical underpinning of OWL and OWL 2 and works on automated deduction. She trains as a dressmaker in Bonn, studies computer science in Erlangen, earns a PhD at RWTH Aachen, and completes a habilitation at TU Dresden in 2003. She joins Manchester's Information Management group in 2003, becomes professor in 2007, coauthors OWL papers in 2008, and directs postgraduate teaching from 2010. Academia Europaea elects her in 2013, and she coauthors a 2026 study of LLM proof generation for OWL ontologies. As of October 2026, she is a professor in Manchester's Department of Computer Science.
