Kevin Pereira

Kevin Pereira is a television host and producer who co-founded and co-hosts AI for Humans, a podcast about AI news, tools and breakthroughs. He joined G4 as a production assistant in 2002 and co-hosted its live show Attack of the Show! from 2005 to 2012; he also hosted the quiz show Let's Ask America until 2014 and co-hosted truTV's Hack My Life from 2015 to 2018. After a return to the revived G4 from 2021 to 2022, he launched AI for Humans in April 2023 with Gavin Purcell, a producer he first met at G4. The show features AI characters voiced with ElevenLabs, and in 2024 Fast Company called it maybe the most entertaining way to learn about artificial intelligence. Twice a week, he and Purcell break down AI news, tools and breakthroughs for listeners.

Timeline

  1. 1982–2001

    Prank calls and student films

    Born in 1982, he hosts the prank-call show Pointless Audio at 14 under the pseudonym Captain Immy. A short film made for his video production class at Deer Valley High School earns him three California Media Festival awards in 2001. On a scholarship, he studies film and television production for one semester at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

  2. 2002–2012

    Hosting Attack of the Show

    He joins G4 in 2002 as a production assistant on the talk show G4tv.com and moves to The Screen Savers in 2004. From 2005 to 2012, he co-hosts and executive produces Attack of the Show!, G4's live tech and pop-culture show, and across his G4 tenure he hosts and produces more than 1,500 hours of live television. His final episode airs in May 2012.

  3. 2012–2014

    Let's Ask America and Pointless

    In 2012, he produces Viral Video Showdown for Syfy, and in October 2012 he launches his podcast Pointless on the Deathsquad network. He hosts the syndicated quiz show Let's Ask America until 2014, when Bill Bellamy takes over.

  4. 2014–2018

    The Attack and Hack My Life

    He launches the Twitch channel The Attack in 2014 and shuts it down in 2018 after it emerges that he violated Twitch's terms of service. On truTV, he co-hosts the how-to series Hack My Life with Brooke Van Poppelen from its January 2015 premiere until it ends in 2018. His production companies, Super Creative and GoodLike.Group, make content for Amazon, Lionsgate, Syfy, Nintendo, Sony and other clients.

  5. 2021–2022

    Back on the revived G4

    In February 2021, G4 announces that he will return to host Attack of the Show!, and the network comes back to linear TV in November 2021 after a seven-year hiatus. He leaves G4 in September 2022.

  6. 2022–2023

    Launching AI for Humans

    After ChatGPT's public launch in November 2022, he and Gavin Purcell, a producer he first met at G4, use AI to generate hundreds of thousands of questions and tens of thousands of photos for a prototype visual guessing game. In April 2023, the pair launch the podcast AI for Humans, filling episodes with AI news and experiments such as Gash, a shock-jock AI cohost, and other characters voiced with ElevenLabs.

  7. 2024

    A Fast Company profile

    In 2024, Fast Company writes that AI for Humans may be the most entertaining way to learn about artificial intelligence. A TikTok about OpenAI's Sora video model becomes the show's most viral yet, with two million views. In a 2024 Reboot Magazine interview, he says coders write code faster with an AI assistant and warns that AI in the wrong hands can target social feeds with bespoke manipulation.

    Co-hosting AI for Humans

    He is co-founder and co-host of AI for Humans, where he and Purcell break down AI news, tools and breakthroughs every Wednesday and Friday. The show has released more than 160 episodes.
