Yaochu Jin
Also known as Jin Yaochu
Yaochu Jin is a computational intelligence researcher whose work spans evolutionary optimization and machine learning. He studied automatic control at Zhejiang University and Ruhr University Bochum, then held academic and industry roles at Zhejiang, Rutgers and Honda Research Institute Europe. At Surrey, he held a chair in computational intelligence; a 2009 paper with Robin Gruna and Bernhard Sendhoff applied Pareto methods to neural-network learning. By 2021, he held an Alexander von Humboldt AI professorship at Bielefeld, joined Academia Europaea, and worked on RVEA for many-objective optimization. He joined Westlake in 2023 and received the 2025 IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Award; as of October 2026, he is Chair Professor of AI at Westlake and directs the Trustworthy and General AI Laboratory.
