Junsong Yuan

Also known as 袁浚菘

Junsong Yuan is a computer vision researcher whose work covers action and gesture analysis and 3D hand-pose estimation. He earned degrees at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, National University of Singapore, and Northwestern University, then held faculty roles at Nanyang Technological University from 2009 to 2018. In 2018 he joined University at Buffalo and coauthored Hand PointNet, which processes 3D point clouds for hand-pose regression. IAPR elected him a Fellow in 2018, IEEE named him a Fellow in 2021, and he received SUNY's Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities in 2022; ACM named him a Distinguished Member in 2025. The IEEE Signal Processing Society selected him for its 2026–2027 Distinguished Lecturer term, and, as of October 2026, he is a professor and interim chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University at Buffalo.
