Georgios Arvanitidis
Georgios Arvanitidis earned a DTU doctorate with Søren Hauberg and later conducted postdoctoral work with Bernhard Schölkopf. His research includes differential geometry, representation learning, generative models and Bayesian inference. Arvanitidis coauthored Learning Riemannian Manifolds for Geodesic Motion Skills. The team used a variational autoencoder to learn a motion manifold from demonstrations and tested geodesic paths and obstacle adaptation with a seven-degree-of-freedom robot arm. The paper’s five coauthors received the RSS Best Student Paper Award. The award recognized the joint motion-learning study.
