Stan Z. Li
Also known as Li Ziqing, 李子青
Stan Z. Li is a chair professor of artificial intelligence at Westlake University, and his work centers on face recognition and biometrics. He earned his doctorate from Surrey University in 1991, and from 2000 to 2004 he was a lead researcher at Microsoft Research Asia, where he developed the EyeCU face recognition system. Between 2004 and 2018 he directed a research center at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 2011 he co-edited the second edition of the Handbook of Face Recognition. The IEEE elevated him to Fellow by 2009, Oulu University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2013, and the International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a fellow in 2020.

The EyeCU face system
He works as a lead researcher at Microsoft Research Asia from 2000 to 2004, where he develops the EyeCU face recognition system. Bill Gates demonstrates the system on a CNN interview.

The International Association for Pattern Recognition names him a fellow in 2020 for outstanding contributions to face recognition research and applications.
