Xinwang Liu

Also known as Xin Liu, 刘新旺

Xinwang Liu is a professor in the school of computer at the National University of Defense Technology, where he studies kernel learning, multi-view clustering, and deep clustering. He studied in the school of computer at Chongqing Technology and Business University from September 2002 to July 2006, then as a master's student at the National University of Defense Technology through December 2008, and as a PhD student there from February 2009, with visits to the Australian National University, the University of Wollongong, and the University of Technology Sydney through November 2013. In May 2020 he described SimpleMKKM, a multiple kernel k-means method that IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence accepted in August 2022. He received a National Natural Science Foundation of China award for Excellent Youth in 2019 and the Distinguished Young Scholar award in 2023. As of October 2026 he is a professor at the university, and in October 2026 IEEE TPAMI accepted Efficient Incomplete Multiple Kernel Clustering with Approximation Theoretical Guarantees.
