Yolanda Gil
Yolanda Gil completed a computer science doctorate at Carnegie Mellon in 1992, studying how experimentation can acquire knowledge for planning. She began research at USC’s ISI in 1992 and led its Interactive Knowledge Capture group from 1996. She co-edited the W3C PROV primer in 2013 and co-authored the 2019 community roadmap for AI research with Bart Selman. Her research connects scientific workflows, knowledge capture, and automated discovery. She began directing USC’s Center on AI Research for Health in October 2024.
