Jie Tian
Also known as 田捷
Jie Tian is a medical imaging scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences who applies pattern recognition and artificial intelligence to fingerprints, molecular imaging and cancer radiomics. After earning a PhD in artificial intelligence from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1993, he became a professor at its Institute of Automation in 1997 and, in 2005, coauthored the paper introducing MITK, a 3D medical imaging toolkit. He was the first president of the Chinese Society for Molecular Imaging from 2010 to 2017, and the International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a Fellow in 2014 for contributions to fingerprint recognition and medical imaging. In 2018, he became director of Beihang University's Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Big Data-Based Precision Medicine, and in 2021 he coauthored a book on radiomics, AI and medical big data. He is the founder and chief scientist of the CAS Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging.
