Babak Taati is a computer vision researcher who applies machine learning to rehabilitation and assistive technology. Before joining IATSL in 2009, he worked in computer vision at Feeling Software and pursued doctoral research at Queen’s University. His AI work includes video-based Parkinson’s assessment and the Toronto NeuroFace dataset, and he leads KITE’s Aging Team. In 2025, he launched a Health Canada-approved screening app for Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and received KITE’s New Visions Research Award; as of October 2026, he is a Senior Scientist at KITE and holds the Barbara G. Stymiest Chair at UHN and the University of Toronto.
