Carl Edward Rasmussen
Carl Edward Rasmussen studies Bayesian inference and Gaussian processes. His work includes a shared textbook and research software for probabilistic learning. Rasmussen and Christopher Williams published Gaussian Processes for Machine Learning with MIT Press in 2006. The book covers regression, classification, covariance functions, model selection and approximations for larger datasets. The textbook received the 2009 DeGroot Prize. Rasmussen and Williams received the award for their joint work. Rasmussen studies Bayesian and probabilistic inference, including nonparametric methods. He co-maintains the gpml MATLAB and Octave toolbox with Hannes Nickisch.
