Researcher

Mark Davenport

Mark Davenport is a Georgia Tech professor whose research links machine learning with signal processing and statistical inference. He earned degrees in electrical and computer engineering at Rice, served as an NSF postdoctoral fellow at Stanford, and joined Georgia Tech's ECE faculty in 2012. He coauthored a 2010 paper on inference from compressive measurements and a 2025 paper on test-time adaptation for seismic deconvolution. As of October 2026, he is a professor and associate chair for graduate affairs in Georgia Tech's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Timeline

  1. 2004–2010

    Degrees at Rice

He earns B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering at Rice in 2004, 2007, and 2010.

  2. 2010

    Signal processing with compressive measurements

In 2010, he coauthors "Signal processing with compressive measurements," a paper that explores inference tasks such as detection, classification, estimation, and filtering directly from compressive measurements.

  3. By 2012

    A Stanford postdoctoral fellowship

Before joining Georgia Tech's ECE faculty in 2012, he serves as an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University and visits Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions at Université Pierre et Marie Curie.

  4. 2012

    Faculty at Georgia Tech

In 2012, he joins Georgia Tech's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on low-dimensional models and optimization in signal processing, statistical inference, and machine learning.

  5. By 2024

    NSF, Sloan, and PECASE awards

By 2024, his honors include the NSF CAREER Award, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award, the Sloan Research Fellowship, and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

  6. June 2024

    Associate chair for graduate affairs

In June 2024, he joins Georgia Tech's ECE leadership team as associate chair for graduate affairs.

  7. 2025

    Test-time adaptation for seismic data

In 2025, he coauthors "Test-Time Forward Model Adaptation for Seismic Deconvolution," which refines the forward model during inference.

  8. As of October 2026

    Professor and associate chair

As of October 2026, he is a professor in Georgia Tech's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and serves as associate chair for graduate affairs.
