Larisa Ivanova

Larisa Ivanova is an AI researcher whose work spans computational linguistics, multi-agent systems and network science. After studying linguistics at Moscow State University, she earned an MSc in Language Science and Technology at Saarland University in 2025 and worked as a student assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics from 2022 to 2024. As a research associate at DFKI from 2024 to 2026, she co-authored The Power of Stories, a 2025 study of how narrative priming shapes cooperation among LLM agents in public goods games. Since 2026, she is a research associate at the Hertie Institute for AI in Brain Health in Tübingen, where her remit is to design and evaluate learning environments that help students and educators engage with AI critically.

Timeline

  1. 2011–2015

    Linguistics at Moscow State

She studies linguistics at Moscow State University from 2011 and earns a BA in linguistics and digital humanities in 2015.

  2. 2021–2025

    Master's at Saarland University

She starts the MSc programme in Language Science and Technology at Saarland University in 2021 and completes the degree in 2025.

  3. 2022–2024

    Student assistant at Max Planck

From 2022 to 2024, she works as a student assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics.

  4. 2024–2026

    Research associate at DFKI

She joins the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as a research associate in 2024, in the Department of Data Science and its Applications, and stays until 2026. Her research there spans computational linguistics, multi-agent systems and network science, with interests in NLP, neural and symbolic representations of knowledge, and graph machine learning.

  5. May 2025

    Narrative priming for LLM agents

In May 2025, she and six co-authors post The Power of Stories on arXiv, a study of LLM agents that play a repeated public goods game after being primed with stories about teamwork. The experiments find that story-based priming significantly affects negotiation strategies and success rates, and that common stories improve collaboration.

  6. October 2025

    Published at NETGCOOP 2025

A version titled The Power of Stories: Narrative Priming in Multi-Agent Networked Public Goods Games appears in the proceedings of NETGCOOP-2025, the 12th International Conference of Networks, Games, Control and Optimization, held in Bilbao, Spain, in October 2025. Springer publishes the proceedings in Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
