Saam Motamedi

Saam Motamedi is a Greylock partner who invests in early-stage AI, security and enterprise infrastructure and co-hosts Enterprise AI Innovators. He grew up in Houston, earned a computer science degree at Stanford, worked on RelateIQ’s intelligent CRM and data products, and co-founded Guru Labs, a machine-learning fintech startup. At Greylock, he began investing across the AI stack in 2017, helped launch Abnormal AI in 2018, and became a general partner in 2019. In December 2025, he described AI as a software shift with new pricing, interfaces and data models, echoing the cloud shift of 2005.

  1. Before 2013

    Studying computer science at Stanford

    Before 2013, he grows up in Houston and earns a computer science degree at Stanford, where he is a Mayfield Fellow.

  2. 2013–2014

    Building RelateIQ data products

    In the 2013–2014 window, he works as a product manager on RelateIQ, an intelligent CRM, and develops data products; parts of the Salesforce-acquired product become Salesforce Einstein.

  3. Before 2016

    Starting Guru Labs

    Before joining Greylock in 2016, he co-founds Guru Labs, a machine-learning fintech startup that builds offline commerce automation software.

  4. 2016–2019

    From associate to partner

    He joins Greylock as an associate in 2016 and becomes a general partner in 2019. From 2017, he invests across the AI stack. In 2018, he helps launch Abnormal AI at Greylock and lead its initial financing.

  5. December 2025

    Pricing, interfaces and data

    In December 2025, he describes AI as a software shift that changes pricing, interfaces and data models, like cloud computing did in 2005.

  6. As of October 2026

    Partner at Greylock

    He is a Greylock partner who invests in early-stage AI, security and enterprise infrastructure and co-hosts Enterprise AI Innovators. In February 2026, he joins a Resolve AI discussion of its $125 million Series A and AI for production.
