Xiangyu Zhang
Xiangyu Zhang is a researcher and co-author of Deep Residual Learning for Image Recognition, the residual network paper. He is chief scientist at StepFun. His degrees include a bachelor's from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2012 and a PhD in 2017 from Xi'an Jiaotong University and Microsoft Research Asia. The paper's ensemble won first place in the ILSVRC 2015 classification task, and in 2026 the Longuet-Higgins Prize honored the paper. Alongside ResNet, he co-authored ShuffleNet and RepVGG, and in 2023 he shared the Future Science Prize in mathematics and computer science.
