Massimiliano Pontil
Also known as Massi Pontil
Massimiliano Pontil is a machine learning researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology, where he leads the Computational Statistics and Machine Learning unit. He studied physics at the University of Genoa, taking an MSc in 1994 and a PhD in 1999. In 2005 he and two co-authors published Learning Multiple Tasks with Kernel Methods in the Journal of Machine Learning Research. A 2013 paper on sparse coding for multitask and transfer learning shared ICML's runner-up best paper award. He is also a professor at University College London, and ELLIS lists him as a Fellow.
