Sergey V. Ablameyko
Sergey Ablameyko works in image analysis, from scanned-map processing and cartographic recognition to document analysis and crowd tracking. He earned a mathematics degree at Belarusian State University in 1978 and doctoral degrees in 1984 and 1990 for image-recognition research. At the Institute of Engineering Cybernetics, he led the Image Processing and Recognition Laboratory, then directed the United Institute of Informatics Problems and served as rector of Belarusian State University from 2008 to 2017. The IAPR named him a Fellow in 1998 for document image analysis. In 2025, he coauthored an optical-flow crowd-tracking paper and, as of October 2026, is a professor at Belarusian State University and serves part-time as chief scientist at the United Institute of Informatics Problems.
