Who is building, studying and governing artificial intelligence? Our research tracks 7,251 researchers, builders, lab leaders and public voices across 1,640 organizations, pairing each person’s biography and dated career timeline from 62,361 cited public sources with publication records from OpenAlex.

Superintelligence names the machine intelligence that these people work to build, study or warn about, and it also refers to the people themselves, whose combined work moves the field forward. Following where artificial intelligence is heading starts with knowing who is doing the work, where they trained and how they move between universities, companies and labs: we estimate 38,977 dated work positions and 24,295 career moves across the field.
