Our biographies do not state where people were born. This post uses Wikidata for 913 people we could match to a Wikidata item with evidence beyond the name, such as an employer or a website. Wikidata gives a place of birth for 387 of them. Birth countries use today's borders. Coverage
Wikidata and Wikipedia name a citizenship for 631 people, and 66 of them have more than one. Better-known people are more likely to have a Wikidata entry with a birthplace, so this sample leans toward them. We keep each value with its source and the claim that states it.
Career data comes from the biographies on this site and from OpenAlex author records, as of 14 October 2026. People whose OpenAlex record may be incomplete or mixed are left out of citation figures.
