Bin Cui
Also known as 崔斌
Bin Cui is a Peking University computer science professor whose research spans AI systems, databases and distributed machine learning. He earned a B.Sc. from Xi'an Jiaotong University's Pilot Class in 1996 and a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore in 2004, then worked as a Research Fellow in the Singapore-MIT Alliance from 2004 to 2006. He received the Microsoft Young Professorship Award (MSRA) in 2008, the CCF Young Scientist Award in 2009 and China's Ministry of Education Natural Science Award, second prize, in 2014; in 2016, he became a Cheung Kong Distinguished Professor. His coauthored work includes PointCLIP's CLIP-based 3D point-cloud recognition, Galvatron systems for Transformer and foundation-model training, and Hetu v2 for distributed deep learning. As of October 2026, he is a professor and director of Peking University's Institute of Data Science and Engineering.
