Alena Šolcová

Alena Šolcová works in mathematical logic and the histories of mathematics and computing; her teaching includes a student essay topic on AI history and regulation. She studied mathematics and philosophy at Charles University, taught in Prague schools, and developed an interactive mathematics and physics exhibition at the National Technical Museum. She joined CTU's Civil Engineering faculty in 1994, completed a doctorate in mathematics applied to civil engineering in 2005, and moved into theoretical informatics at CTU. Her 2014 paper covers propositional logic; she leads SEDMA, the history seminar founded in 1992, and chairs the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists. Asteroid 58682 Alenašolcová was named in her honor in 2007, and she is an associate professor at CTU's Faculty of Information Technology.
