Huimin Xie

Also known as Xie Huimin

Huimin Xie is a Tsinghua experimental mechanics professor whose work spans optical measurement and deep learning for manufacturing. He coauthored a 2006 PBX creep study using laser moiré interferometry and a 2007 moiré study of a butterfly wing. His 2009 digital geometric-phase method evaluates MEMS deformation, and he chaired China's Committee for Experimental Mechanics from 2007 to 2010. In 2021, he renewed a three-year term as a Technical Editor at Experimental Mechanics; in 2023 he coauthored deep-learning flaw detection for laser powder bed fusion and chaired an ICCES 2025 symposium on extreme experimental mechanics. As of October 2026, he is a full professor and deputy head of Tsinghua's Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Applied Mechanics.
