Elizabeth Pratt
Also known as Lizzie Pratt
Elizabeth Pratt is a mathematician who contributed original problems to FrontierMath, a benchmark for evaluating AI on difficult mathematics. She wrote an undergraduate thesis at Amherst College and completed a mathematics PhD at UC Berkeley in May 2026. Her work includes quantum Jacobi forms, D-module methods for Feynman integrals, Grasstopes, and Grassmannian geometry. As of October 2026, she is a postdoctoral fellow at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.

Timeline
-
2022
Amherst and quantum Jacobi forms
Before her doctorate, she writes an undergraduate thesis at Amherst College under Jenia Tevelev. In 2022, she coauthors “Quantum Jacobi forms and sums of tails identities” with Amanda Folsom, Noah Solomon, and Andrew Tawfeek.
-
2022
Elliptic-pair geometry
Her solo 2022 preprint classifies all toric elliptic pairs of Picard number two. It also studies non-toric examples built by blowing up the projective plane at nine points on a nodal cubic.
-
2024
D-module methods for Feynman integrals
With Johannes Henn, Anna-Laura Sattelberger, and Simone Zoia, she coauthors a paper published in 2024 on D-module methods for Feynman integrals. The team compares these methods with dedicated approaches and uses a triangle integral as a case study.
-
2024
Problems for FrontierMath
In 2024, she contributes problems to FrontierMath, a benchmark for evaluating AI performance. Its paper presents hundreds of original, challenging mathematics problems written and vetted by experts.
-
2025
The m=1 Grasstopes
With Yelena Mandelshtam and Dmitrii Pavlov, she publishes “Combinatorics of m=1 Grasstopes” in 2025. The paper characterizes m=1 Grasstopes as unions of hyperplane-arrangement cells that satisfy a sign-variation condition.
-
2026
Berkeley PhD and UC Davis fellowship
In May 2026, she completes a mathematics PhD at UC Berkeley under adviser Bernd Sturmfels. She serves as a five-month Chancellor’s Fellow at UC Davis, mentored by Jaroslav Trnka.
-
September 2026
A new rank for Grassmannians
In September 2026, her paper introduces conormal rank for subvarieties of Grassmannians. She proves that Chow-Lam forms have low conormal rank and computes the statistic for families including Schubert and positroid varieties.

As of October 2026
Postdoctoral research at Perimeter
As of October 2026, she is a postdoctoral fellow at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Her research focuses on combinatorial algebraic geometry and applications to scattering amplitudes.
