Bin Xu
Also known as 许斌
Bin Xu is a Tsinghua computer scientist whose research connects knowledge graphs, large language models and education. He earned three degrees at Tsinghua between 1996 and 2006. In 2022, he coauthored EDUKG, a sustainable knowledge graph for K–12 education. In 2025, he coauthored AgentIF, a benchmark for agentic instruction following, and LoSiA, a method for high-rank fine-tuning. As of October 2026, he is a Research Professor in Tsinghua's Computer Science and Technology Department and directs the Knowledge Modeling and Analysis Laboratory in the National Engineering Research Center of Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology.

Tsinghua degrees
He earns a bachelor's, master's and doctorate at Tsinghua in 1996, 1998 and 2006, respectively.
-
2022
EDUKG for K–12 learning
In 2022, he coauthors EDUKG, a heterogeneous sustainable knowledge graph for K–12 education. The paper proposes a fine-grained ontology and a method for extracting factual knowledge from textbooks.
-
2025
Benchmarking agent instruction following
In 2025, he coauthors AgentIF, a benchmark that tests large language models' ability to follow complex instructions in agentic scenarios.
-
November 2025
Subnet localization for fine-tuning
In November 2025, he coauthors LoSiA, a method for efficient high-rank fine-tuning that identifies and optimizes a subnetwork during training.
-
July 2026
Agents for project-based learning
In July 2026, he coauthors SimPBL, a multi-agent framework for project-based learning. It has an orchestrator agent that provides adaptive scaffolding and collaborator agents that support project work.
