Researcher

Mohamed S. Abdelfattah

Mohamed S. Abdelfattah is an AI systems researcher who studies how software and hardware can make AI systems more efficient. He completed a PhD at the University of Toronto, worked at Intel and Samsung, and joined Cornell Tech in 2022, where the Abdelfattah Research Group formed alongside his work in deep learning and hardware-software co-design. His research on large language model inference earned an NSF CAREER Award in 2024, and he co-founded Makora, which raised $8.5 million in seed funding in 2025. As of October 2026, he is an assistant professor at Cornell Tech and Cornell Engineering; Makora has received a $1.75 million award to make AI faster and less costly to run.
