Yann LeCun
Also known as Yann Lecun
Yann LeCun is AMI Labs' executive chairman and an NYU professor, as identified in his 2026 interview. His research path included engineering study in Paris, a 1987 doctorate, and a Toronto postdoctoral role with Geoffrey Hinton. At Bell Labs, he worked with teams on convolutional networks and handwriting recognition, including systems used for bank-check processing. He joined NYU in 2003 and later led Facebook's fundamental AI research work. He shared the 2018 Turing Award with Hinton and Yoshua Bengio. More recent team work includes V-JEPA 2, trained through video observation with prediction and robot-planning experiments. He argues that AI needs better world models.
