Vijay Janapa Reddi

Vijay Janapa Reddi is Gordon McKay Professor of Electrical Engineering at Harvard, where his research spans computer architecture, machine learning systems, autonomous agents, and edge computing. He earned degrees at Santa Clara, Colorado, and Harvard, joined UT Austin's ECE faculty in 2011, and became a Harvard associate professor in 2019. His work includes MLPerf benchmarking, Harvard's TinyML certificate course, and the 2023 Adversarial Nibbler challenge for text-to-image safety. He received the Intel Early Career Award in 2013, the IEEE TCCA Young Computer Architect Award and National Academy of Engineering's Gilbreth Lecturer Honor in 2016, and was inducted into the MICRO and HPCA Halls of Fame in 2018 and 2019. An October 2026 development preview of Introduction to Machine Learning Systems presents AI engineering as a discipline for building intelligent systems for real-world use; he is Vice President and co-founder of MLCommons, oversees MLCommons Research, and is on sabbatical at ETH Zurich.
