Martin Reuter

Martin Reuter is a medical-imaging researcher who develops AI methods for brain MRI. He earned a mathematics Diplom in 2001, a PhD in computational geometry in 2005, and completed postdoctoral work on non-rigid shape analysis at MIT from 2006 to 2008. At MGH and Harvard, he shifted into longitudinal brain MRI research and coauthored FastSurfer in 2019, a deep-learning pipeline for structural MRI. He received a Computer-Aided Design paper award in 2009, an NIH Career Award in 2014, and the $1.2 million Deep-NI Award in 2020. Since 2024, he is Professor of AI in Medical Imaging at Bonn, leads Deep-MI at DZNE, and holds assistant professor appointments in radiology and neurology at Harvard Medical School and an Assistant in Neuroscience appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital.
