Dan Goldston

Also known as Daniel Alan Goldston, Daniel Goldston

Dan Goldston is a mathematician at San José State University whose work covers the gaps between prime numbers and the zeros of the Riemann zeta function. He earned his PhD at UC Berkeley in 1981 and began working at San José State in 1983. In 2005 he and three co-authors posted an alternative proof of a result on prime gaps. The Cole Prize honored him in 2014, shared with Yitang Zhang, Cem Yıldırım and János Pintz. In August 2026 Anthropic thanked him as one of two experts who examined Claude's paper, and as of October 2026 he is a professor of mathematics at San José State University.
