Arthur Mensch
Arthur Mensch is cofounder and chief executive of Mistral AI. He entered École polytechnique in 2011 and spent nearly three years at DeepMind before Mistral. He coauthored RETRO, which studied language models that retrieve external text, and Chinchilla, which examined how to balance model size and training data under a computing budget. In 2023 he founded Mistral with Guillaume Lample and Timothée Lacroix. He was among the authors of Mistral 7B, and the team later opened La Plateforme for developers to use model services. In October 2026 the company announced a public preview of Mistral Large 4. Mensch is Mistral’s chief executive.
