Pushmeet Kohli
Pushmeet Kohli is Google Cloud’s chief scientist and a Google DeepMind research vice president. His leadership spans AI for science and strategic initiatives, following a decade at Microsoft Research. His research contributions include AlphaFold, the SynthID tool for identifying generated images, and AlphaMissense predictions of genetic variant effects. AlphaMissense’s estimates need other evidence for interpretation and were not designed for direct clinical use. The GNoME materials team credited him as a sponsor. In 2026, he co-authored the AI co-clinician research announcement, which describes work under clinical supervision. These projects connect model outputs with scientific and practical checks.
