Sanjay Ghemawat
Sanjay Ghemawat helped build the systems that let Google store data and process large jobs across many computers. He studied at Cornell and MIT, worked at Digital’s Systems Research Center, and joined Google in 1999. His shared projects include the Google File System, MapReduce, Bigtable, and TensorFlow. These systems address storage, divided work, and reliable execution when computers fail. Google now says Ghemawat and Jeff Dean are launching an independent public benefit corporation for research in machine learning, science, and engineering. His systems work supports large research efforts and everyday services.
