Anima Anandkumar
Anima Anandkumar is Caltech’s Bren Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. Her research develops mathematical methods for machine learning and scientific AI. She studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Cornell, then held a postdoctoral position at MIT. A 2012 paper with collaborators examined tensor methods for finding hidden structure in data. She later coauthored the Fourier Neural Operator paper and joined the FourCastNet weather forecasting author team. Neural operators learn mappings between functions, which makes them useful for families of scientific equations. Her career has also included roles at Amazon Web Services and NVIDIA. Her work connects machine learning with physical processes and scientific tests.
