Lilly Wachowski
Lilly Wachowski is a filmmaker whose 1999 science-fiction film The Matrix imagines artificial intelligence conquering humanity. She made her feature debut with Bound, co-directed Cloud Atlas, helped create Sense8, and later co-wrote and executive-produced Work in Progress. TIME included her in its 2023 TIME100 AI list among creatives examining AI’s influence on society; in 2025, she executive-produced Geena Rocero’s science-fiction short DOLLS. As of October 2026, she is executive director of Anarchists United and co-writes The Hunted with Mickey Ray Mahoney.
